At the beginning of the 20th century, pilot's watches were developed to meet the needs of pilots, who primarily wore them over their leather jackets as technical aids during the two world wars. At that time, aviation was one of the most modern engineering and pioneering achievements, and so many watch companies competed to build the best pilot's watches. Special features of a pilot's watch are the enormous size, a non-slip crown, the simple look, the robust construction and, above all, the good readability. Most of the time there was no logo or date. The readability should also be possible later in the evening, which is why Luminova was used exclusively for the dials and hands. Another distinctive feature of pilot's watches is the triangle at the 12 o'clock position. The crown was usually very large and easy to grip, so that the watch could also be operated with gloves. In Germany, two dial variants in particular have become established: model A and model B. Model A has a very simple design, has luminous numerals, a minute track and the triangle at 12 o'clock. Here we limit ourselves to the essentials. The B models have the hours displayed in the inner circle and the minutes displayed in the outer circle. The dial model B is designed more complex. Tourby use only model A for their pilot´s watches.
Even if it looks less professional on a official website, you can only see the quality of the watches from live-pictures. All watches look great on official product images. Even the cheap ones. But in order to get an accurate feeling of the watches, you have to hold them in your hand. These often have a completely different effect. However, since our customers mostly order online and cannot view the watches beforehand, our pictures must be as authentic as possible.
The Base movements comes free of extra charge. Choose your favorite.
