Guilloche Roman 43

Available in two sizes - 43 mm or 45 mm

The art of guilloching, named after the Frenchman Guillot, is one of the greatest moments in watchmaking. Invented in the 16th century, the craft was further developed by guilloche machines in the 17th century. With guilloching, the dial or movement is clamped and a pattern is engraved using the guilloching machine. The guilloching machine is operated like a lathe and the pattern is applied in the form of a snail. The watchmaker has to be very careful so that the pattern can be applied to the material down to the smallest detail. Depending on how the guilloche machine is constructed and operated, different patterns can be produced. They were made famous by Abraham Louis Breguet, purveyor to the French court at the time, who built his pocket watches exclusively with engine-turned dials and blued steel hands in the middle of the 18th century. Since 1900, however, the craft of guilloching has almost died out. Today there are only a handful of people in the world who still master this craft and even have access to the machines, some of which are over a hundred years old. To evoke the tradition of guilloché, Tourby offers the "guilloché" models. In order to be able to offer these beautiful watches at affordable prices, Tourby relies on machine-made dials, where state-of-the-art CNC cutters engrave the patterns on the 925/000 sterling silver dial. The dials are available with either Roman or Arabic numerals. Matching the dial, all models have temperature-blued "Breguet" steel hands after 250 years of tradition and form.

Live Pictures

Why do we also use Live Pictures? Even if it looks less professional on a official website, you can only see the quality of the watches from such photos. All watches look great on official product images. Even the cheap ones. But in order to get an accurate feeling of the watches, you have to hold them in your hand. These often have a completely different effect. However, since our customers mostly order online and cannot view the watches beforehand, our pictures must be as authentic as possible.

The movement is available in different levels of refinement (please click on the following lin for more informations about the movements):
