What is FKM?

FKM is based on hexafluoropropylene vinylidene fluoride. The big advantage of FKM rubber is its chemical and temperature resistance. Furthermore, FKM rubber has good resistance to hydrocarbons, acids and alkalis. The mechanical properties remain intact up to a temperature of 250 degrees Celsius. As a result, the material is particularly popular in the (petro)chemical industry. FKM rubber is highly flammable and has limited flexibility when cold. Because of its chemical resistance, it is not attacked by very aggressive oils. The material is highly wear-resistant and has a temperature range of -20 to +250 degrees Celsius. Due to its high density, FKM rubber differs significantly from other rubbers. You can easily determine this yourself, because FKM rubber is heavier than other qualities of the same volume.
