In 2005, we were the first manufacturer in the world to create a pilot's watch with a hand-wound movement and a small second at six o'clock. We were the first manufacturer to also use Super-LumiNova in the color "Old Radium". There was nothing like that on the market back then. We sent genuine, aged Radium Luminova to the company TRITEC in Switzerland, with the request that we mix Super-LumiNova in exactly this colour. The result was a unique pilot's watch whose design is one of the most well-known pilot's watches in the world today and is imitated by almost every other manufacturer.

Pilot 10th Anniversary

Two brilliant minds, two important innovations.

This watch embodies two important innovations that lead back to Tourby Watches. At the beginning of the 2000s, watchmaker Jürgen Norbert Tetzlaff send old radium luminous material to the TRITEC company in Switzerland and had SuperLumi-Nova made there in the same color. This is how Old Radium SuperLumi-Nova is created. At the same time, Erdal Yildiz designed a pilot´s watch with a small second at 6 o´clock based on the ETA Unitas 6498 movement. When he showed his design to some German watch manufacturers, he was rejected. The tenor of the brands is that you can only build a pilot´s watch with a center seconds. Then Yildiz decides to produce this design under his own brand. This is how the Tourby brand was born. A few years later, Yildiz meets Tetzlaff and is able to recruit him for his brand. From now on, both people from Hagen work under the name Tourby Watches and combine their two inventions into one watch.
